Kuusipalo, Jaana (1989). Naisena politiikan huippupaikoille. (To the top of politics as a woman) Tampereen yliopiston sosiologian ja sosiaalipsykologian laitoksen sarja A: Tutkimuksia 13/1989.
Using qualitative interviews, Kuusipalo analysed the different paths to top politics by women cabinet ministers of different generations, and showed how the women's political organisations in Finland have especially earlier on functioned as recruitment channels for women politicians. After the 1970's the recruitment by the general party leadership replaced this mechanism. She also showed e.g. the significance of a political family background and of informal networks as well as that of female examples for the political career of women cabinet ministers.
