Bibliographie Majoinen, Kaija - Hänninen-Salmelin, Eva (1998). Naiset paikallispolitiikassa - näkökulmia naisiin politiikan prosessin kehittäjinä, vetäjinä ja arjen johtajina. (Women in local politics - perspectives to women as developers and agents of political processes and leaders of everyday life). Helsinki: Kuntaliitto. The purpose of the study was to analyse the proactive role of women politicians at the local level, as well as chart and recognise good practices in this area. The study used six qualitative interviews by women politicians of municipalities recognised as having innovative policies and a strong representation of women, and triangulated these with other materials gathered from other decision-makers in the same municipalities. The results indicate that the roles of women politicians are many-faceted. Women strongly emphasised everyday and grass-root perspective to politics and political practices, as well as co-operation, networking and closeness to citizens. Women have a role not only as leaders and decision-makers, but also that of negotiators, mediators and disseminators of information between the local decision-making and citizens. |
